How to Update Wave Executor

Wave Executor needs to be updated whenever Roblox pushes a client update, because the injection method depends on the current client memory layout. This guide covers both update methods.

When to Update

Update Wave Executor when:

  • The built-in updater shows a new version is available
  • Wave fails to attach to Roblox after a Roblox update
  • A new release appears in our changelog with a compatibility note for your Roblox build
  • You notice bugs that a newer version has fixed

You do not need to update if your current version still works and you are not affected by any known issue.

Before You Update

  1. Close Wave Executor if it is running
  2. Close Roblox if it is running
  3. Back up your scripts folder — you do not need to, but it costs nothing
  4. Note your current version (visible in the About dialog)

Method 1: Built-In Updater

This is the simplest method if your current Wave version still launches.

  1. Open Wave Executor
  2. Click the gear icon or open the Help menu
  3. Select Check for Updates
  4. If a new version is available, click Download
  5. Once downloaded, click Install Update
  6. Wave will close, apply the update, and reopen automatically
  7. Verify the new version number in the About dialog

If the built-in updater reports a network error, use Method 2.

Method 2: Fresh Installer

Use this method if the built-in updater fails or if your current version does not launch.

  1. Go to the download page and get the latest version
  2. Verify the SHA-256 hash — see verification guide
  3. Run the installer as administrator
  4. The installer detects the existing installation and upgrades in place
  5. Your scripts folder is preserved — the updater does not delete user data
  6. Launch Wave Executor and confirm the version number

Method 3: Clean Reinstall

If neither method above succeeds, do a clean reinstall:

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps
  2. Uninstall Wave Executor
  3. Delete any leftover files in the install folder
  4. Download the latest version and install it fresh
  5. Your scripts folder in your user profile is preserved by the uninstaller

After Updating

  • Confirm the version number in the About dialog
  • Launch Roblox and join an experience
  • Attach Wave and confirm the status indicator turns green
  • Run a simple script to verify the update did not break anything

Common Update Failures

"Update failed to download"

Your firewall or antivirus may be blocking the updater's outbound connection. Either allow the connection or use Method 2.

Installer refuses to overwrite

Use Method 3 (clean reinstall). This usually happens when the previous version left a locked file behind.

New version doesn't attach

Check the changelog for known issues with your Roblox build. If you are on an unsupported Roblox client version, no Wave version will attach reliably.

Scripts disappeared after update

They did not. The updater does not delete your scripts folder. Check the settings in Wave to confirm the scripts folder path is correct. Your scripts are stored in your user profile, not the install directory.

Downgrading

Older versions are archived on the download page but will not attach to current Roblox clients. We do not recommend downgrading.
