Fix Attach Failures on Windows 11
Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 introduced new memory protection rules that break older injection methods. This guide walks through the most common causes of attach failures and how to resolve each one.
Symptoms
- Status indicator stays red after clicking Attach
- "Attaching..." spinner runs indefinitely
- Error dialog: "Failed to attach to Roblox process"
- Roblox crashes when Attach is pressed
- Attach succeeds but scripts produce no output
Cause 1: Core Isolation / Memory Integrity
This is the single most common cause on Windows 11. Memory Integrity uses hypervisor-enforced code integrity to block unsigned code from accessing protected memory regions — including the pattern Wave uses to inject into Roblox.
How to check:
- Open Windows Security
- Go to Device Security → Core Isolation Details
- If Memory Integrity is on, this is very likely the cause
Disabling Memory Integrity is a system-wide security change. Only do it if you understand the trade-off and accept the risk.
Cause 2: Kernel Anticheats
Riot Vanguard, Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC), and BattlEye install kernel drivers that monitor process memory system-wide. Even when they are not actively running a game, the driver may block injection into any process.
How to check: open Task Manager, look for services named vgc, vgk, EasyAntiCheat, or BEService. If present, stop the service before running Wave. Some anticheats will not allow this and require a reboot.
Cause 3: Antivirus Real-Time Protection
BitDefender, Kaspersky, and ESET sometimes block injection silently — no popup, no log entry by default. To check:
- Open your antivirus control panel
- Find the event log or blocked operations log
- Look for entries around the time you pressed Attach
If blocks appear, add the Wave installation folder to exclusions. See Defender exclusions guide for the process.
Cause 4: Missing Administrator Privileges
Injection requires elevated privileges on most configurations. If you launched Wave Executor by double-clicking the shortcut, it may not have those privileges.
How to check: right-click the Wave shortcut, choose Run as administrator. The UAC prompt should appear. If it does not, the shortcut may already be marked for elevation.
Cause 5: Outdated Wave Executor
Roblox pushes client updates frequently. Each update changes the memory layout of the client process, and older Wave versions may not be able to attach to the current build.
How to check: compare your Wave version to the latest release on our changelog. If yours is older than the current version, update it.
Cause 6: Launch Order
Wave Executor must attach to an already-running Roblox process. If you launched Wave first and Roblox second, or if Roblox is still on the splash screen, attach will fail.
Correct order:
- Launch Roblox
- Join an experience and wait for it to fully load
- Then launch Wave Executor
- Click Attach
Cause 7: Multiple Roblox Instances
If more than one Roblox client is running, Wave may attach to the wrong process. Close all Roblox instances, then launch a single one.
How to check: open Task Manager, look for RobloxPlayerBeta.exe. If more than one is listed, end all of them and restart.
Systematic Troubleshooting Order
- Confirm Roblox is loaded into an experience
- Run Wave as administrator
- Check Core Isolation / Memory Integrity
- Check for kernel anticheat services
- Check antivirus logs for blocked operations
- Confirm Wave is on the latest version
- Restart both Roblox and Wave
- Reboot Windows if nothing else works
What Not to Do
- Do not disable Windows Defender entirely — add specific exclusions instead
- Do not download "attach fixers" or "injector boosters" from unknown sources
- Do not run Wave from a USB drive or network share — it needs local access
- Do not run two executors at the same time
